Kitchen Renovation Part 1

The kitchen is one of the biggest projects in the whole house. It isn't going to happen quick. Piece by piece. We started with this wall. Cabinets all had to be ripped out.

What we found after that was really gross. Tons and tons of black mold. So then all the sheetrock had to be ripped off immediately.

We have basically now decided we will probably be replacing all of the sheetrock in the kitchen.

We planned on putting a big window right in the middle of this wall. So we built a temporary wall with 2x4s, removed all the insulation, and starting cutting the pieces where the window was going to go. We now also see mold on the exterior siding which will have to be replaced also.

Built the frame for the window and made sure the ceiling was going to still have support and not be putting a bunch of pressure down on the window.

Installed new sheetrock around the bottom half of the wall. We wanted to move the sink so we got all the water lines installed and ready.

And then we were ready to put in my beautiful window! Which is actually a door as you can see. We will be filling in the door knob hole and lock hole near the top. We waited to cut out the exterior wall until we had a solar screen made for it. My dad made us one!

Then came some new cabinets! We went with a lazy susan in the far left corner. The next cabinet was on backorder so you will see it later. Got a beautiful new sink and sink cabinet. And of course our countertop, Typhoon Ice from Home Depot.

Do yall see the sink?!? It is huge!! And that faucet?! Soooooo pretty!

Next we got a dishwasher. I went almost two years without one and man did that suck. Got a small section of counter to go all the way to the wall and got another cabinet. This one has drawers! It is funny the things you get excited about when you get older. We have a spacer to go on the far right in between the cabinet and the wall.

I am sooo happy with how it is turning out! He has been working hard to make our kitchen the way I pictured it. See my inspiration picture from Pinterest down below.

We will be doing shelves like this as well but not for awhile. We are also going to be painting the cabinets grey but not sure exactly what shade we want just yet.
